Consulate of Estonia

ესტონეთის საკონსულო

A trilingual plaque in Batumi marks the site where the Consulate of the Republic of Estonia was located in 1920 and 1921.

The plaque, in Georgian, English and Estonian, commemorates the building that housed the Consulate of the Republic of Estonia in Batumi in 1920 and 1921; the building no longer stands on the site. In July 1920 Britain ceded the Batumi region to the Democratic Republic of Georgia, and on 11 March 1921 Turkish forces occupied the city following the Soviet invasion of Georgia. Estonia opened a new honorary consulate in Batumi on 16 November 2009.
