ხარიტონ ახვლედიანის სახელობის მუზეუმი
One of Georgia's oldest museums, founded 1908, holding about 180,000 items on Adjara's history and nature.
This museum began in 1908 as a school museum at Batumi's Pushkin city school. In 1924 it moved into a one-storey former treasury building, and from 1939 it ran research expeditions across Adjara. It has carried the name of Khariton Akhvlediani since 2005 and is part of the state body Ajara Museum.
The collection numbers about 180,000 items: rare objects, photographs, works of art, manuscripts and documents, plus displays on Adjara's plants and animals. It also holds around 6,000 written sources, including manuscripts and a rare book collection.
