Batumi Beach

The city's main beach stretches for about 7 km along the Black Sea. It is mostly pebbles rather than sand, and it runs alongside Batumi Boulevard: the leafy Old Boulevard, laid out in the late 19th century, and the more modern New Boulevard with its sculptures and cycle paths.

You can rent sunbeds and umbrellas, and cafés and bars line the shore. In peak season there are banana boats, parasailing, jet skis and boat trips. GNTA says the warmest, driest months are July to mid-September, with the sea at about 27–28°C in high summer.

Good to know

  • Wear thick-soled flip-flops or beach shoes on the pebbles (GNTA).
  • Keep an eye on your things in busy areas. GNTA notes reports of petty theft.
  • Carry some small notes, because not every vendor takes cards.
